I was born and grew up in Germany and German is my mother tongue. At school I had
- 9 years of English
(= Year 5 - 13, including University Entrance exams [= German "Abitur"] in English)
- 7 years of French
(= Year 7 - 13, including University Entrance exams [= German "Abitur"] in French) and
- 1 year of Italian
(= Year 11. Unfortunately, we did not have any teacher offering Italian at that school afterwards)
After passing my University Entrance exams (= German "Abitur") in 1981, I studied English, Italian and German at the University of Mainz in Germany and obtained the (2-year) Diploma in Languages in 1983.
In 2002 I obtained the Certificate in Teertiary Education (Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand).
I have been using my languages ever since I started learning them - either at work or privately.
In 2011 I became a Full Member of the New Zealand Society of Translators & Interpreters (= NZSTI)(www.nzsti.org) and thus can now also offer official translations for
- English into German, and vice versa
- English into Italian, and vice versa
